Q)  What insurance companies do you participate with?

A)  We are in network providers for Delta Dental, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Principle, MetLife PPO and CIGNA plans. If you have a plan that is not on this list, Dr. Bunton’s staff will still submit all treatment to your dental insurance. Be aware that your coverage for an out of network dentist will be different.

Q)  What are your payment options?

A)  We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover), checks, and cash.  We also provide interest free payment plans through CareCredit.

Q)  Does Dr. Bunton provide dental services for children?

A)  Dr. Bunton does see children. The starting age for our office is 3 years old.  We want all kids to have the best experience.  If your child shows signs of anxiety, Dr. Bunton may refer him or her to a pedodontist (dentist specializing in children’s dental care). Most kids do great!

Q)  Why do I need a check up and cleaning every 6 months?

A)  Prevention is the key to good, long-term dental health. Having a periodic doctor’s exam and routine prophylaxis helps us monitor your teeth. Missing an appointment can lead to missed diagnosis of treatment needed. Not only are we worried about cavities, but we also check for gum disease and oral cancer during your appointments.  Regular appointments lead to early detection.

Q)  My gums bleed when I brush.  Should I be concerned?

A)  When gums bleed, the cause usually stems from improper brushing technique or from early stages of gum disease. If your gums show signs of gum disease, we recommend an appointment be made with our dental hygienist. At the time of your appointment, our hygienist will evaluate your gum health and make a diagnosis. Treatment depends on that diagnosis. Our goal is to keep your gums healthy!

Q)  I avoid dental visits because of anxiety can you help?

A)  Visiting the dentist is a common fear. With the use nitrous oxide and The Wand and injection system, we can help you achieve the best dental experience. We want all of our patients to feel calm and secure during their dental treatment.

Q)  What happens if missing teeth are not replaced?

A)  Missing teeth can lead to multiple problems. Missing teeth can cause TMJ pain, spaces between other teeth, problems chewing, and food collection. Patients with open spaces are often times more susceptible to gum disease and caries.

Q)  Will I be reminded of my appointments?

A)  Through SmileReminder, our patients will receive a text or email to confirm all appointments. If you choose not to participate, one of our staff members will call to confirm your appointment.

Q)  How long do fillings last?

A)  With good home care and routine dental visits, dental fillings can last 10 years or more! How long your fillings last depends on you!

Q)  Is teeth whitening safe?

A)  Bleaching your teeth is safe. Bleaching does not wear away enamel or make a tooth more likely to stain. The American Dental Association has approved teeth bleaching.
